The Member of Parliament (MP), Justice (retired) Hasnain Masoodi said that his party, National Conference (NC), will raise the issue of the slow pace of investigation in the claims of three Rajouri families that their relatives were killed by the army in south Kashmir’s Shopian in an alleged fake gunfight on 18 July 2020.
“We (NC MPs) will raise the issue [of] why there is [a] delay in [the] investigation in Shopian encounter. We want impartial investigation should be completed at the earliest to unveil the facts. Today our main focus will be Shopian encounter,” Justice Masoodi told a local news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) from New Delhi.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday had assured that “no injustice will be done” in the alleged fake gunfight happened in Amshipora of south Kashmir’s Shopian district and said separate investigations are underway to bring the fact to the fore.
Mr. Sinha also assured the Rajouri-based families that the probe is going on and families will get justice.
In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor J-K, the families had sought LG’s personal intervention and demanded an impartial and fair probe into the killings and results of the DNA report to establish the truth. The family also sought permission for the exhumation of the bodies so that their decent burial can be arranged. (KINS)
