A mysterious explosion shook a village in the Kathua district forcing the government agencies to launch a massive search operation in the Hiranagar area and its adjoining villages.
Unnamed official sources told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a big-bang was heard near a temple located in Jandi village of Kathua district after which police and other government forces rushed to the spot. The entire area has been cordoned off while senior police officers have reached the spot, officials said.
“The nature of the explosion is mysterious as of now. We are ascertaining the nature of the explosion as some reports suggest it was a grenade blast,” a police source said.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Mukesh Singh while confirming the incident said that a mysterious explosion took place near the religious place and searches are going on.
“Exact nature of explosion can be known once investigations are completed,” he said. (KNO)
