A day after the government fixed the rates for mutton; authorities on Friday sealed a mutton shop in Nagbal area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for selling meat on exorbitant rates.
The action was initiated against the butcher after a video went viral in which the butcher was seen charging 600 rupees per kilogram of meat from the consumers.
Assistant Director CA&PD Ganderbal, Naseer Ahmad Baba told a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust (KNT) a formal FIR was lodged against the erring butcher and he has been arrested. He said strict action will be taken against those meat sellers who loot consumers and violate government norms.
Pertinently, the administration has fixed the retail price of mutton at 535 rupees per kilogram without offal and 490 rupees with it.
