The Minister of State (MoS) Nityanand Rai for Home Affairs has invited Kargil Democratic Alliance and Apex Body Leh for talks this afternoon in Leh amid a complete Ladakh Bandh today.
Both the groups, based in Kargil and Leh, yesterday called for complete Bandh across Ladakh for not being invited for talks with the union minister.
We have been invited by MoS Home for talks to be held today at 12:45 in Leh, news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) quoted a leader of one of the groups as saying.
He, however, said that the Ladakh Bandh call will stand till the meeting with the minister is held.
Both the groups earlier this month held a joint meeting wherein the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also participated. They agreed on four points. However, the ruling party leaders later distanced themselves from being part of the consensus.
The 4-point agenda on which Kargil Democratic Alliance and Apex Body Leh had agreed on includes full statehood to Ladakh, recruitment policy with a resident certificate on the pattern of PRC, separate Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil districts, and constitutional safeguards under 6th Schedule or Article 371.
