A man allegedly threatened a 17-year-old girl to kill, and cut her into pieces after she rejected his marriage proposal in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, reported India Today.
Police have arrested the accused.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Faiz, was allegedly forcing the minor to marry him but she rejected his proposal. Angry over rejection, he threatened the girl, saying, “If the marriage doesn’t happen, I will cut you into pieces.”
Faiz used to follow the girl to school and harassed her repeatedly, the girl’s family told the police. They also tried to counsel Faiz but he did not stop harassing the girl, asking her to marry him.
Following this, the girl’s family approached senior police officials and filed a complaint against Faiz, claiming a threat to the girl’s life.
Based on the complaint, as per the report, Naubasta police conducted a raid at Faiz’s residence in Chaman Ganj. When the officers arrived, Faiz’s family clashed with the police, prompting them to call more officers to the spot. Faiz was arrested.
ACP Naubasta, Abhishek Kumar Pandey told India Today that on 16 October, a case was filed against Faiz under the POCSO Act.
As per the complaint, Faiz continuously threatened to kill the minor girl after she rejected his proposal. He has been arrested and sent to jail.
