Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested a person for posing himself as Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) official.

In a statement issued to the news agency, police spokesperson said that acting swiftly on a complaint received from a person belonging to village Dadsara Awantipora that one person stopped him while he was driving a car near Toll Plaza Awantipora and introduced himself as Anti Corruption Bureau Official.

“The said person had searched the complainant’s car and taken his phone number. Later on during evening hours the said person called the complainant on phone with the intention to extort money from him,” the statement said.

“Upon the said complaint, Police Awantipora identified the person as Muhammad Amin Wani of Zafron Colony Panthachowk and arrested the person from Pampore area. A case under FIR number 164/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Awantipora,” police said—(KNO)
