Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a LeT Militant funding module in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

In a statement issued to the press, the police said that acting on reliable information about militant organization LeT activating a module for carrying out militant activities in district Bandipora and Kupwara.

The statement further states that Bandipora police arrested 3 persons namely Irshad Ahmad Sheikh resident of Chittibandy Aragam, Mohmad Junaid Wani resident of Nageen Bagh Sopore and Raj Mohmad Khan resident of Lolab Kupwara and seized 4 Lakh rupees in cash, and 1 in bank accounts and other incriminating material from their possession.

They said that the trio was in touch with their handlers in Pakistan administered Kashmir and had raised 14 Lakh rupees out of which 9 Lakh rupees have been distributed “for financing terror activities in district Bandipora and Kupwara.”

In this regard, case FIR No. 29/2020 under different sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) has been registered in Police station Aragam and further investigation of the case is going on, the statement added. (GNS)
