In a suspected leopard attack over a dozen sheep have been killed and  half a dozen injured in a far-off village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

The incident occurred in Wantrag Ranbirpora hamlet of the district.

Officials said that 15 sheep belonging to four persons died in the attack while 06 are injured.

They said joint teams have been formed and traps placed to capture the big cat.

One of the locals from the hamlet said that one lamb is also believed to have been taken away by the animal.

He said that sheep were taken care of by a shepherd and  belonged to Sakib Ahmed, Abdul Rashid Khan, Muhammad Ayoub Khan, and Showkat Ahmed Khan.

“15 sheep were found dead and 06 injured,” the local added. (KNT)
