On Sunday, Ram Madhav visited the residence of the killed leader Sheikh Waseem Bari’s residence in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district with the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mr. Madhav, BJP’s national general secretary, was joined by Union Minister MoS PMO office Dr Jitinder Singh, National Vice President Avinash Rai Khanna, and Jammu Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina. Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar also accompanied the BJP leadership.
“We have come here to offer condolences with the bereaved family and provided them some help. All BJP leaders, workers stand with the party workers of Kashmir. Those who did this act (killed Bari and his father and brother) will be tracked soon and neutralized,” Mr. Madhav told reporters. “We all demand party workers should be given proper security.”
Mr. Bari along with his brother Sheikh Umar, a BJP Coordinator, and father Sheikh Bashir, also a BJP senior leader, were gunned down by suspected militants outside their home in Muslimabad area of Bandipora.
After the attack, the police suspended ten Personal Security Officers and initiated an inquiry.
Recently, in wake of the fear after the attack, Baramulla’s Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, BJP’s youth wing, president, Marouf Bhat, resigned. (With inputs from agencies.)
