On Wednesday, Ravi Sethi, husband of former Mahila Morcha President and Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokesperson Rajni Sethi, was arrested for sexually abusing the thirteen-year-old daughter of his brother, reported a daily newspaper from Jammu, State Times.

As per the report of State Times, police said Sethi and his maternal uncle Raj Kumar have been arrested and both have been sent on seven-days police remand by the court.

As per the details, FIR vide 197/20 under sections 354 of IPC and 7/8 of POCSO Act has been registered against Sethi and Raj. Earlier, the police party led by superintendent of police (SP) North conducted the raid and arrested them, reported  State Times.

Police took the victim to a hospital for a medical examination, the report of which was awaited.

Unknown sources informed the State Times that under BJP pressure the Jammu police were delaying the registration of the First Investigation Report (FIR). Sethi was detained soon after the complaint. However, police were giving him time to settle the issue with the victim’s family, reported State Times.

The family of the girl refused to withdraw the complaint and took the case to court. The police got into action and arrested Ravi Sethi and his uncle Raj Kumar for sexually abusing a minor girl, on the directions of court.

Both Sethi and Raj were produced before the court soon after the arrest.

“We are investigating the matter”, police said, adding, “the court has ordered seven days police remand”. (State Times)
