Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced ceasefire in Gaza operation as of 2am on Friday (23:00 GMT Thursday), reported Al Jazeera.
In response, Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad also confirmed the ceasefire in a statement.
In eleven days of bombings, at least 232 Palestinians, including 65 children, have been killed. On the Israeli side, 12 people, including two children, were killed due to rockets fired by the Hamas.
At least 1900 people were injured in Gaza, while as in Israel 796 were injured. The Israeli airstrikes have displaces 75000 Palestinians in Gaza and destroyed more than 500 homes.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had ordered two security delegations into Israel and the Palestinian Territories to work towards upholding the ceasefire, Reuters reported.
