India recorded a slight decline in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 323,144 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 17,636,307.
The country reported 2,771 COVID-19 related deaths, while the toll is nearing 200,000. This is the sixth straight day that the country has reported over 3 lakh cases and over 2,000 deaths.
India is now the second worst-hit country. The active cases in the country are now nearly 2.9 million. Since 15 April, the country has been recording more than 2 lakh cases every day.
However, the reports are emerging that the country is not recording all the COVID-related deaths that have occurred in the last month. There are also reports that the testing process has been reduced in many states which has led to the under-reporting of COVID-19 cases.
Across the country, the situation remains grim as over the past week, due to the unavailability of medical oxygen in hospitals many COVID-19 patients died.
