India has recorded 3,48,421 fresh cases taking the toll to 2,33,40,938 in the last 24 hours. Nearly 30 lakh infections have been recorded by the country since 5 May.
As per the Union Health Ministry, the death count has crossed the 2.5 lakh mark as the country reported 4,205, the highest COVID-19 related deaths so far, in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the country are 37,04,099 and the total recoveries are 1,93,82,642.
The official government data says that the total number of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began is 22,992,517 with a 250,025 death count, however, it is believed to be a vast undercount.
The United States remains the worst-hit country followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey. So far, 15.96 crore infections have been reported since the pandemic broke across the world.
