India has recorded 3.14 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
However, the country recorded the highest-ever single-day spike in COVID-19 related deaths with 2,104 fatalities, taking the count to 184,672.
The fresh cases have taken the total number of infections in India, since the pandemic began, to 15,930,965. India is now the second worst-hit country. The actives cases in the country are now over 30 lakh.
Meanwhile, the government said on Monday that everyone above the age of eighteen in India will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccinations from 1 May.
