Five people were arrested in connection with an attempt to murder case, police said on Thursday, reported a news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).

Parvinder Singh lodged a written complaint at the Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station alleging that he was assaulted by five individuals, namely Rasvinder Singh, Ravinder Pal Singh, Surjeet Singh, Pawandeep Singh, and Amarjeet Singh, along with other unknown individuals. 

Parvinder claimed that he was attacked by the accused with stones and lathis, and also fired two rounds to kill him, police said.

The complainant also said a Scorpio car got damaged in the incident, they said. A case was reported and specific teams were formed to investigate the matter. In Jammu, Samba and Kathua, the teams raided separate locations and arrested the five suspects, the police said. 

They added that the offensive weapon (pistol) used in the incident was also recovered.
