India has recorded 1,68,912 fresh COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, making the sixth record rise in seven days.

The fresh cases have taken the total number of infections in India, since the pandemic began, to 13,527,717. India is now the second worst-hit country.

As per the Union Health Ministry, India reported 904 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the fatality count to 1,70,179. The actives cases in the country are over ten lakh and the total recoveries are 12,156,529.

The country has been recording over one lakh cases since last week.

The surge in COVID-19 cases has forced many states and Union Territories to impose fresh restrictions in order to curb the spread of the virus, even though no major lockdowns have been announced.
