The Jammu and Kashmir police has warned that there is an imminent threat of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack on the highway and hence no convoy of forces personnel is to be allowed.

In an official communication dated 13 February, a copy of which lies with The Kashmir Walla, the police said, “No VIP movement is to be allowed on the highway in view of an IED threat.”

The matter has been termed as “most urgent”. “No convoy movement including administration, movement of isolated security forces vehicles and movement of army of intra and inter district routes,” reads the communique.

Adding that in view of an imminent threat, a strict dry day shall be observed and no movements are allowed on 14 February.

On this day in 2019, at least forty Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed after a suicide bomber rammed his car into the forces’ vehicle on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in south Kashmir’s Lethpora area of Pulwama.
