An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which was found on Baramulla—Srinagar highway near the Zangam flyover, has been defused.

The traffic movement which was earlier stopped on the highway has also been restored, officials said.

Sources said that a team of police, 29RR, and CRPF rushed to the spot after a suspicious object was found on the highway following which a bomb disposal squad was also called in.

“The device was detected and  destroyed through a controlled mechanism by bomb disposal squad without causing any damage and traffic was restored,” he said. (KS)
