A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district on Thursday morning, officials said.
News agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) quoted an official saying that the gunfight broke out in Karyote Kalas area where a cordon and search operation was launched on Wednesday after reports of suspicious movement.
“Today, as the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter,” he said.
Last week, the gunfight took place in the same area in which two militants were killed.
