Srinagar: Exchange of firing took place between militants and the government forces in forests of Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

A joint team of the police, the Army’s 28 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Lolab forests.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara Shri Ram Ambarkar confirmed to a local news agency, Global News Service, the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. However, right now there is no exchange of firing as its deep forest.

More reinforcements have been rushed to the forest, added SSP. This is a developing story. (GNS)
