A gunfight between militants and government forces has started in south Kashmir’s Chawalgam area of district Kulgam.
Police while taking to Twitter said, “Encounter has started at #Chawalgam area of #Kulgam. Further details shall follow,”
Reports said that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Chawalgam.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and government forces
He further stated that two militants are believed to be trapped.(with inputs from GNS)
