A gunfight started between the government forces and militants in Dooru area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.

A senior police officer told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the government forces including the police, Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon and search operation in the Kreeri area of Anantnag in south Kashmir following inputs about the presence of militants there.

He said the search operation turned into a gunfight after the militants fired upon the government forces.

The exchange of fire is going on and further details are awaited. (KNO)
