Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police along with Army has cordoned off a village in Sopore town of north Kashmir after a militant attack on Monday afternoon.
The joint forces have cordoned off the Brath village of the town.
The search started hours after the militant attack that left Municipal councilor and a cop dead in Sopore
As per a local news agency, Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), a joint forces’ team including Army and police have cordoned off the Brath village following inputs about presence of militants in the area.
Latest reports said that door to door searches are underway in the area.
Earlier today, Councilor Reyaz Ahmad Peer and SPO Shafqat Nazir Khan were killed, while as another councilor Shamas Din Peer was seriously injured in the militant attack in Sopore.
After the attack, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Sudhanshu Verma had said that two militants were behind the attack.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony, of the cop killed in the attack, at district police line Sopore, the SSP had said searches are on to nab the attackers.
