Nathuram Godse, who shot dead Mohandas Karamchand ‘Mahatma” Gandhi in 1948, is trending on Twitter as Indian netizens praised the killer with the hashtag #NathuramGodseAmarRahe.
#NathuramGodseAmarRahe – Live Forever Nathuram Godse – trended as it generated thousands of tweets in India on Gandhi’s 73rd death anniversary, which is being observed today.
Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January, 1948, by Godse who disagreed with him over the partition of India.
On Twitter, however, Indian netizens hailed Godse and called him “a true nationalist”.
