Srinagar: People in Kashmir Valley and Ladakh woke up to snowfall on Sunday morning while in Jammu it was pouring.

Moderate to heavy snowfall started in several areas, including the summer capital Srinagar.

The MET department has forecast widespread snowfall in many areas of the valley on Sunday and Monday with heavy snowfall at isolated places.

Due to snow, traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway was halted because of heavy accumulation of snow near the Jawahar Tunnel.

As per reports, several plain areas of Kashmir Valley received more than five inches of snow until morning. The temperatures, however, improved throughout J-K and Ladakh.

Srinagar had minus 1.5, Pahalgam also had minus 1.5 while Gulmarg had minus 5.0 as the minimum temperature.
