Among six accused, five minor boys, aged between 8 and 15 years, were arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a ten-year-old girl of Haryana’s Rewari village on 24 May, reported Tribune India quoting the police.
As per the report, their accomplice, also a minor, is absconding. Three of the accused are from the victim’s family, said the police.
Quoting the unnamed sources, Tribune India reported that the victim’s father filed a police complaint on Tuesday after the video of the alleged crime went viral.
Subsequently, as per the report, the police arrested an eighteen-year-old boy and five of his accomplices, all minors, on Tuesday night.
On 24 May, the victim, who studies in 3rd standard, was playing outside her house when the accused abducted her. They took her to a nearby school and allegedly raped her, read the report.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hansraj told the Tribune India that the video was forwarded to two numbers.
As per the report, all seven accused have been booked under Sections 376-D and 354-C of the IPC, the POSCO Act, the Information Technology Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act.
Today, the five of the accused were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and were sent to the juvenile home, as per the report. The police have launched a search to arrest the seventh accused.
