Srinagar: Laboratory block of SMGS (Sri Maharaja Gulab Singh) Hospital in Jammu was gutted in a fire incident on Wednesday night, official sources said.

The fire was noticed at around 9:15 pm following which an alarm was sounded. Soon fire tenders reached the spot and brought the flames under control, they said.

A police officer said that preliminary investigations point out to short circuit even as real cause of fire would be known after investigations are complete.

He said the laboratory block of the hospital has suffered damage. “Assessment about total loss would be worked out in due course of time,” he said. (GNS)
