A body of a newborn child was recovered in Dodaj village of Darhal in Rajouri district of Jammu region late Friday, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KN), adding that the police have started investigation into the matter.
An unidentified police officer told the agency that locals from Dodaj saw the body of a newborn girl child lying in the area on Friday and later informed the police. “The body was taken into possession by a team of police from Darhal police station.”
He said that medico-legal formalities including genetic sampling has been done in civil hospital and a case under relevant sections of law was also registered.
He said that SDPO Thanamandi Sajjad Khan is heading the investigation. (KNO)
