The police has arrested the husband and father-in-law for the alleged murder of a woman in the remote Khawas area of district Rajouri, reported Daily Excelsior.

Official sources said that woman’s body with her throat slit was found on Wednesday morning in the remote Gadayog area of Khawas tehsil under the jurisdiction of Budhal Police Station in Rajouri district, triggering a protest and panic in the area.

The police party from Budhal after coming to know about the matter rushed to the spot and took the dead body in its possession. The police thoroughly examined the spot as well and then sent it to GMC Rajouri where the board of doctors did a postmortem and after completing other formalities, handed it over to the family.

A police official said that on the basis of a preliminary investigation, the husband and father-in-law of the deceased Shamim Kousar have been detained. The police said that Zulfikar Ali, husband and the father-in-law (Ayub Sheikh) of the deceased have been arrested for this “heinous act”.

The police claimed to have registered a case under section 302 RPC against the accused persons. Meanwhile, DSP Paropkar Singh said that apart from slitting the throat of the deceased, she was also attacked with a sharp-edged weapon on her stomach.

According to the DSP, a case of murder has been registered against the husband and father-in-law, both have been arrested and the weapon used to slit the throat has also been seized.
