A former leader of Bajrang Dal, a Hindu extremist group, has been arrested by the Karnataka police, in Karakala, on the charges of abetting cattle theft cases, reported Manglore Today.
The arrested person was identified as Anil Prabhu, 45, a resident of Tellaru in the state. He is a former convenor of Bajrangdal’s Karkala team, the police said. He was arrested after Muhammad Yasin, who was recently arrested by the police in a case involving beef smuggling, confessed Prabhu’s name in the statement.
Earlier, the police arrested Yasin when the police had ordered him to stop near the Banglegudde Junction a few days ago. Yasin reportedly told the police that to ensure that there was no trouble from the police during the cattle theft and beef transportation, Prabhu used to take money from them.
Prabhu was subsequently detained and presented before the court.
