Srinagar: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Athar Aamir Khan today convened a meeting with the IT wing Of SMC to take a detailed review of its functioning.
During the course of the meeting, Commissioner SMC sought the status of services provided by SMC and stressed on formulating a road map for making these services available digitally to the citizens.
He discussed various functions of SMC and said that there is a need to introduce ICT (Information Communication Tools) and IoT (Internet of things) to offer plans under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) for the conversion of many offline municipal services including collection of user charges, booking of community halls, Vehicle Tracking System (GPS) fuel control management, assets management into an online platform.
He said to facilitate an easy and consumer-friendly application system for birth and death certificate, building permission, and solid waste management activities, it is a vital step that SMC has brought all these disparate works at one window, which is available in online mode but at the same time needs upgradation for providing prompt services at the doorsteps of the citizens digitally in a user friendly and time bound manner.
In this regard Officials from various banks were also invited for providing their CSR support.
While throwing light on much needed initiatives to be taken for dreaming and making of digital Srinagar, Aamir had set a deadline for implementation of various steps to be taken for digitization of online services.
The officials from different banks expressed their positive concern for providing facilities under CSR.
During the course of meeting the commissioner also discussed GIS based House numbering and unique ID for entire Srinagar city and installation of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based smart bins at length.
Besides, IT head Suhail Chinsaz ,cluster head of JK bank, ICIC bank ,officials from IT wing, SBM and GIS personal attended the meeting.(KNS)
