The Drug Control organization Kashmir on Tuesday in a surprise raid at one of the courier agencies in Srinagar seized 23,000 tablets of different brands of Tapentadol, valued at approximately Rs 6.7 lakh.

An official said that the raid was carried after a specific input was received.

“It is a big nexus and we are in it’s initial stage of investigation. We are trying to eliminate it from roots, and the drive against it is going to intensify,” he said.

He said that there were authentic inputs that anti-social elements responsible for drug menace in the valley are exploring alternate modes of supply and are now resorting to airlifting of such intoxicating drugs and consignments.

“Following the inputs, a surprise raid at one of courier agency led to seizure of 23000 tablets of different brands of tapentadol valued approximately Rs 6.7 lakh,” he said.

An official said that the particulars of the consignee and consigner mentioned on the consignment are under investigation.(KNO)
