Amid the forecast for “mainly dry” weather till May 3, the minimum temperatures remained below normal in Kashmir Valley, officials said on Sunday.
A meteorological department official told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS), that Srinagar recorded a low of 4.8°C against 5.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 4.1°C below normal for this time of the season in the summer capital of J-K.
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 3.4°C against the previous night’s 3.2 and below 4.1°C, the official said.
Mercury settled at minus 0.1°C against minus 1.6°C on the previous night in Pahalgam. The temperature in the famous tourist resort in South Kashmir was below 4.1°C during the time, he said.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 4.1°C against previous night’s 2.7°C, the official said.
Kupwara recorded a low of 2.7°C against 4.5°C on the previous night which is below normal by 4.9°C for this season in north Kashmir district, the official said.
Gulmarg, the famed skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.6°C against minus 3.4°C on the previous night, the official said.
The MeT office has predicted “dry and warmer” weather till 3rd May in both J-K and Ladakh. (GNS)
