India reported 3,874 deaths in the last 24 hours, below 4000 after four days, taking the fatality count to 2,87,122.
The 4,529 fatalities yesterday recorded in India surpassed the record of 4,468 deaths in the US on January 12. Brazil, the third hardest-hit country in the world, recorded 4,211 deaths on 6 April, reported Hindustan Times. However, the country recorded less than 4000 deaths after four days.
As per the Union Health Ministry, the country has recorded 2,76,110 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the toll to 2,57,72,440 in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the country are 31,29,878 and the total recoveries are 2,23,55,440.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also announced on Sunday that the lockdown in the National Capital has been extended by another week till 24 May, reported NDTV.
Globally, there are 164,883,320 confirmed COVID-19 cases across 192 countries with 3,432,004 deaths. The US remains the worst-hit country followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey.
