As the COVID-19 cases surge in the district, authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday converted a 100-bedded District Hospital into a COVID Care Centre.

An official told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that in a meeting of health officials with district administration, it was decided that the district hospital will be converted into a COVID hospital and be designated as a level third hospital.

He said that the hospital is facilitated with oxygen supply and 100 COVID-19 patients can be treated at a time as the 1000 LMP high-flow oxygen plant would be made functional within the next few days at the hospital.

“People who want to consult doctors for non-Covid or in case of other normal aliments can visit the old hospital building where about eight doctors have been deployed for the convenience of the people,” the official said.

Pertinently, the fifty-bed Gynae and Maternity Hospital in Pazalpora is already designated as a Level-II hospital for COVID patients. (KNO)
