India recorded 6,148 deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest death toll that any country has reported in a day since the pandemic began, taking the fatality count to 3,59,676.

The increase in death count came after Bihar revised its toll on Wednesday, adding 3,951 previously uncounted deaths to its tally, reported India Express.

The country recorded 94,052 new coronavirus infections in a single day, pushing the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 2,91,83,121, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The active number of Covid-19 cases in the country is over 1,177,152 while 27,645,225 people have recovered from the virus.

So far, the world has reported more than 175 million Covid-19 cases since the pandemic broke with 3,776,238 deaths. The US remains the worst-hit country with 34,264,650, followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey.
