A Bharatiya Janata Party worker from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district kept a day-long fast, wishing for recovery of the party’ Jammu and Kashmir president, Ravinder Raina, from COVID-19.
In a video released to the media, Peerzada Javaid Qureshi, a resident of Langate village, claimed that he has fasted for Mr. Raina, who had tested positive after he went on to meet the family of Waseem Bari, a party leader assassinated by suspected militants on 8 July.
Mr. Raina was accompanied by top leaders of the party including MoS Jitendra Singh and the party’s vice president Avinash Rai Khanna.
Mr. Qureshi, who recently joined the party in March as a worker, prayed for speedy recovery of Mr. Raina and said the entire leadership and workers in the party are praying for his well being. He added that the party needs Mr. Raina’s leadership to carry forward the mission of reaching out to every person of the society.
Since the killing of Mr. Bari, at least three BJP leaders from north Kashmir have resigned.
