Srinagar: A 65-year-old man from Pulwama with underlying health conditions died due to COVID-19 at a hospital, reported a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS).

A resident of Kakapora Pulwama, the sexagenarian’s death took the toll in Jammu and Kashmir to eighty-four.

Dr. Nazir Choudhary, Medical Superintendent at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital, told GNS that the patient had “bilateral pneumonia”. “He was admitted on 21 June and died on the same day. His sample returned positive,” he added.

Srinagar district has reported the most number of deaths in J-K–nineteen. It is followed by thirteen in Baramulla, ten each in Shopian and Kulgam, seven in Jammu, six in Budgam, five each in Kupwara and Anantnag, four in Pulwama, while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda, Udhampur, and Rajouri.
