People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has asked the Enforcement Directorate to question her in Srinagar and that she won’t appear before the directorate in New Delhi.
PDP spokesperson Najmu Saqib while talking to The Kashmir Walla said that Mufti did not appear before the ED officials today citing her ‘political engagement’ here.
He said that Mufti wants ED to investigate the case in Srinagar. He further said that she was ready to cooperate with the Directorate if the proceedings of the case are conducted in Srinagar.
“She has nothing to hide and is ready to cooperate if the ED has to ask her anything regarding the case. We would love to serve them a cup of tea if they come to Srinagar for any kind of investigation or do it through video conferencing,” Saqib said.
He further said that it was not safe to travel to Delhi during the COVID-19 pandemic and said that the summon is ‘vague’ as it is not mentioned in the notice served whether she is accused, accomplice or witness into the case.
Tahir Sayeed another spokesperson of the party said that Mufti has written a letter to ED, asking them to come to Srinagar for questioning or do it through video conferencing.
The ED on 15 March had summoned Mufti for questioning her in a ‘money laundering case’.
