Srinagar: A civilian was injured and a few houses were damaged in the ceasefire violation at Jammu and Kashmir’s Mendhar area in Poonch and Balakote areas in the wee hours on Sunday.
Official sources told newswire, Kashmir News Observer, that after a brief spell of ceasefire violation in the area on Saturday evening at around 10 pm, which lasted for an hour, Pakistan’s army resorted to heavy firing on and along Line of Control in the area at around 3:15 am on Sunday.
“Firing by Pakistan with small arms as well as mortar shelling lasted till four hours and five villages in the area came under fire,” officials added.
Block Medical Officer Mendhar, Dr. Parvez Khan, said that a man identified as Mohammad Yaseen, a resident of Gohlad village was injured in the firing. Locals also told that a few houses were also damaged in the ceasefire violation.
“He has a splinter injury in leg. Our team has evacuated him with the help of locals and he is being brought in hospital,” said the BMO. (KNO)
