Srinagar: An extended cordon and search operation (CASO) has been  launched by Jammu and Kashmir police and paramilitary forces in Zoonimar-Zadibal area of capital city Srinagar following inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Official were quoted by Kashmir News Observer (KNO) saying that authorities have snapped mobile internet services in Srinagar district. “Government forces have been deployed in large numbers in downtown area of the city as a precautionary measure,” said officials.

Locals in the adjoining areas also confirmed that the exit and entry points near the adjacent areas have been closed by the forces. However, no exchange of gunfire had started till this report was filed.

Earlier, last month, two militants were killed in Srinagar during a gunfight in Nawakadal area.
