Two militants have been killed in an ongoing gunfight in Waterhail area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
“#BudgamEncounterUpdate: 01 more #terrorist killed (Total 02). #Operation going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice(sic),” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar earlier in a tweet said that Lateef Rather was among three LeT militants trapped in the gunfight.
As per ADGP, Rather was involved in the killing of Rahul Bhat, Ambreen Bhat and several other civilians.
Earlier, a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Waterhail.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
