Police on Friday claimed to have killed a militant in an ongoing gunfight in Yedipora, Pattan area of Baramulla in north Kashmir.
“BaramullaEncounterUpdate: 01 #terrorist killed. Operation in progress. Further details shall follow,” a police spokesman said.
The gunfight is believed to have broken out after government forces cordoned the area following a tip-off. Another gunfight broke out in Chitragam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian.
It was not immediately known whether the operation in Shopian has been called off. (KDC)
