At least seven people were killed and more than 70 injured in an explosion in Dir colony area of Pakistan’s Peshawar.
The majority of the deceased and injured are believed to be students at the seminary.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Mansoor Aman confirmed the explosion, saying that initial reports suggest an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the explosion. “Five kgs of explosives were used in the blast.” He was quoted as saying by Dawn newspaper.
The area has been cordoned off and police teams are collecting evidence, he added.
The blast took place in a seminary during a Quran class. Someone took a bag inside the seminary,” Waqar Azim, a senior police official, told AFP.
