Government of Jammu and Kashmir has postponed the holiday on account of ‘Ashura’ from July 28 to July 29.

“In partial modification of Government Order No. 1596-JK(GAD) of 2022 dated 30.12.2022 and Government Order No. 1597-JK(GAD) of 2022, dated 30.12.2022, it is hereby ordered that the holiday on account of “Ashoora” shall now be observed on 29th of July, 2023 (Saturday) instead of 28″h July, 2023 (Friday),” reads an order.

Pertinent to mention that the decision has been taken after Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board had requested Government of Jammu and Kashmir to postpone holiday on account of Ashura in backdrop of receipt of a communiqué from Grand Mufti, J-K, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam. (GNS)
