Mohammad Aijaz Assad, an IAS office of 2012 batch, assumed the office of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar on Thursday.

Assad was posted as the new administrative chief of Srinagar in a major reshuffle of top 34 officers by Jammu and Kashmir Administration earlier this week.

The 2012 batch officer, Assad was previously posted as Managing Director Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited. He took over the new charge from Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, J&K Mission Youth, Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, Jammu and Kashmir.

Author of the award winning book “Barf Zaar” and Alma mater of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Assad is known for “implementation of reforms in the power sector, improving revenues and insulating the distribution network to stop power theft.”
