An abandoned residential house of Kashmiri pandit was gutted in massive fire at Batgund in north Kashmir’s Mawer area of Kupwara district.

According to eyewitnesses, a massive fire broke out in the abandoned house of Jaankin Nàth alias Jann Batt.

They said within no time the fire engulfed the whole house.The locals rushed to douse the flames and were later joined by the fire and emergency department.

After hectic efforts the fire was brought under control, locals said.

Meanwhile, a fire and emergency offical confirmed the fire incident and said three fire  tenders were rushed to spot to douse the flames.

He said that no one was hurt in the incident adding the cause of fire was not known immediately.
