Senior leader and the party’s prominent Kashmiri Pandit face, Anil Dhar, has quit the National Conference. He sent his resignation letter to NC chief Farooq Abdullah.

In his letter, Anil Dhar has said that the NC has lost interest in the cause of Kashmiri Pandits. Without mincing his words, he censured the party high command for peddling a conspiracy theory on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, India Today reported.

“The leadership said that late Shri Jagmohan, the then governor of J-K, was responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley in 1990. This is contrary to the fact that it was Pakistan and its proxies which still continue to be responsible for the migration/exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the valley,” wrote Dhar.

Dhar, who was who was earlier NC’s vice-provincial president of the Jammu region, also objected to party’s Vice-President Omar Abdullah’s recent statements with “communal overtones and bias against Hindus”.

He claimed that such controversial remarks by the NC leadership did not instil confidence in the Kashmiri Hindus, and that he too has lost his faith in the party, prompting him to resign.

Dhar’s resignation comes after 19 leaders, including Devender Singh Rana and SS Slathia, quit the NC earlier in October.
