Srinagar: A well known Kashmiri writer and former Secretary Cultural Academy, Dr Aziz Hajini passed away on late Saturday evening after brief illness.

Dr Hajini was a Kashmiri writer, poet, critic and convenor of Sahitya Akademi for New Delhi’s Northern Regional Board. He served as assistant professor and was teaching Kashmiri in Centre for Shaikh-ul Aalam Studies, University of Kashmir till he retired from active service in 2019.

He was appointed secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in 2015 by PDP led Government. He wrote more than twenty books in Kashmiri language, including poetry and criticism.

His Namaz e Jinaze will be held at Padshahibagh Mehjoornagar at 9:00AM.

Politicians and others condole demise

Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Dr. Hajini.

In his condolence message issued here, Bukhari described Dr. Hajini Saheb as an epitome of humility, intellect and compassion. Bukhari lauded his contribution as the convenor of Sahitya Akademi for New Delhi’s Northern Regional Board besides other official assignments.

“His demise has left a huge void in Kashmir’s literary and intellectual strata. His contribution towards cultural renaissance especially with regards to reviving the spirit of Kashmiriyat during his stint as secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages will be remembered for times to come,” Bukhari observed.

He said that Dr. Hajini was an excellent guide and teacher who would be very keen to inculcate qualities of philanthropy and cultural insights among his students. “The deceased has left behind a legacy of literary works as he was author to dozens of books written in Kashmiri, Urdu and English,” Bukhari observed.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, relatives and students, Bukhari prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and patience to his family to bear this irreparable loss.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir also expressed profound grief over the passing away of Hajini. JKPCC President termed the passing away of Dr. Hajini as a great loss to Kashmiri Language.

In his condolence message, JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir has expressed profound grief over the passing away of eminent scholar Dr.Ab.Aziz Hajini, terming it as a great to loss to Kashmir language.

Mir also said Dr. Hajini’s contributions to Kashmir Language and literature was immense. “It came to me as a great shock to learn about the passing away of Dr.Hajini, I have no words to express my grief,” JKPCC President added  and paid rich tributes to Dr. Hajini. Mir conveyed deepest condolences to family and friends of Dr. Hajini and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.

Chairman People’s Democratic Front PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of the Patron , Adbee Markaz Kamraz ,prominent  poet,  writer and former Secretary  Jammu and kashmir  Culture Acadamey, Dr Aziz Hajini. 
In his condolence message, Hakeem Yaseen while condoling demise of Dr Aziz Hajini, has eulogized his contribution in the development, promotion and preservation of kashmiri language and literature.

Director Tourism G N Itoo grieved over demise of noted Kashmiri Writer Dr. Hajini. In a condolence message issued to Kashmir News Service, Itoo said that relentless efforts of Dr Hajini in cultural activities and promoting cultural tourism can never be forgotten.

He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this huge loss.
