Two militants, part of Hizbul Mujahideen group’s “hit squad”, were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Khrew area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, police said.
News agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) quoted the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar saying that one of the slain militants, Musaib Mushtaq, was involved in the killing of Javaid Ahmed Malik, a peon at Girls High School Patsuna, a resident of Lurgam.
“The identity of another slain (militant) is being ascertained,” he said.
“Both slain militants were part of Hizb’s ‘hit squad’ responsible for civilian killings in south Kashmir,” the IGP said.
